Promoting Local Ontario Produce

The OPMA is excited to be ramping up for the local Ontario growing season! Grower retailer commodities will be promoted through Produce Made Simple beginning with asparagus in May and ending with carrots and onions in December. The Produce Made Simple website and its accompanying social media platforms will feature recipes, videos and a selection of tips and tricks on how to select, store, prepare and get the most out of the local Ontario growing season. This year we are excited to be working closely with participating retailer and grower groups to grow the program and reach more consumers.

2018 saw a total of 2.8 million impressions with some of the most popular content read being, the “what goes well with” category. We also saw a 40% increase in newsletter subscriptions and worked with 14 Canadian bloggers, chefs, dieticians and authors who have a combined social reach of over 1.75 million followers.

OPMA is excited to continue growing Produce Made Simple and connecting with the consumer in meaningful ways to increase fresh fruit and vegetable sales and consumption.
